2026 FSC Summer Band Camp Scholarship Application

Dear Middle School Band Directors,

The Hollingsworth Winds, Inc. is excited to offer scholarships to deserving middle school band students who possibly could not afford to attend Florida Southern College’s Summer Band Camp program during the week of June 14-19, 2026. Thank you for your consideration in making this opportunity available to deserving students from your program!

To be eligible for a scholarship, the student must meet the following criteria:

• The student is an actively enrolled band student who is entering the 7th or 8th grade for the 2026-27 school year.

• The student has at least one (1) year of playing experience.

• The student attends a Polk County middle school or attends an out-of-county middle school of a band director who is a participant in the Hollingsworth Winds.

For a student to be considered for this scholarship, they will need:

• A completed and signed application form.

• A recommendation from their director and one other teacher at their school.

• An essay detailing what it would mean to attend the Florida Southern College Summer Band Camp and what he or she hopes to gain as a participant.

Please follow these steps to complete the application:

1. Directors will click the "Download Application" button to print and complete the application form.

2. Directors will click the “For Directors” button to complete the student recommendation form and upload the signed application (page 2 only). Submit only one application per student. Only completed applications will be considered.

3. Students will click the “For Students” button to complete the application essay.

4. One other teacher at your school will click the “For Teachers” button to complete their recommendation form.

Applications should be uploaded no later than April 24th, 2026. Band directors will be notified of the scholarship winners on the following Monday.

Winners will be recognized, along with their directors, at the May 4th, 2026 Hollingsworth Winds concert at 7:30 p.m. in Branscomb Auditorium. Attendance at this event is greatly appreciated!

1. Scholarship funds will cover the costs of tuition only as to the Florida Southern Summer Band Camp, and scholarships do not cover any other costs.
2. Applicants and awardees shall be subject to the rules, provisions, guidelines, admissions policies, and procedures set forth by Florida Southern College, Florida Southern College’s Music Department, and Florida Southern College Band Camp; and applicants and awardees must agree to abide by all rules and regulations of the Florida Southern Music Department Band Camp.
3. Information regarding Florida Southern College’s Summer Band Camp can be found at the following website: https://www.flsouthern.edu/bandcamp
4. Scholarship winners will be selected by the Board of Directors of Hollingsworth Winds, Inc.
5. Scholarship funds will be paid directly to Florida Southern College, not to the individual.
6. Scholarship funds will be awarded and distributed at the sole discretion of Hollingsworth Winds Inc.
7. Hollingsworth Winds, Inc. is a separate entity from Florida Southern College, and Hollingsworth Winds, Inc. is not affiliated or associated with the operation of Florida Southern College’s Summer Band Camp. Attendance and enrollment of the Florida Southern Summer Band Camp may be limited, and the awarding of the scholarship(s) is subject to any lawful limitations, procedures, conditions, and provisions otherwise imposed by Florida Southern College.
8. Hollingsworth Winds, Inc. is not liable for any and all claims, demands, rights and causes of action of whatever kind that a scholarship recipient may have either arising from or by reason of any personal injury or property damage resulting from or in any way connected with my child's participation in the Florida Southern College Summer Band Camp program. For consideration of participating in the scholarship application process, Applicants and their parents/legal guardians stipulate and expressly acknowledge that they will not file suit against Hollingsworth Winds, Inc. regarding their participation in the scholarship process and regarding the student’s participation in Florida Southern College’s Summer Band Camp.
9. Hollingsworth Winds Inc. provides equal participation and application opportunities to all deserving participants and applicants for this scholarship and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
10. If a student is awarded a scholarship for Florida Southern Summer Band Camp from Hollingsworth Winds Inc., and the student will not be able to attend, the student shall forthwith notify their band director and the Hollingsworth Winds, Inc. of their cancellation and the circumstances of same so that the scholarship funds can be awarded to a different applicant who can attend the camp. Any alternate awardee shall be selected by Hollingsworth Winds, Inc. to utilize the scholarship and is subject to the same applicant criteria indicated in this document.
11. By submitting this application, I am acknowledging that everything I have provided is true and correct to the best of my knowledge, and I understand that this information is subject to verification should I be selected as a recipient of a scholarship.
12. Please be advised of the following: This scholarship is competitive and applying does not guarantee a Band Camp scholarship to Florida Southern College.
13. Scholarship recipients will be responsible for all travel accommodations to/from the Florida Southern College Band Camp and to/from all Hollingsworth Winds, Inc. events and/or concerts. Hollingsworth Winds, Inc. is not responsible for providing for travel accommodations to/from the Florida Southern College Band Camp and to/from all Hollingsworth Winds, Inc. events and/or concerts.
14. The above information will be used for scholarship award purposes with the Hollingsworth Winds, Inc. Board of Directors and the Florida Southern College Band Camp Program only and will not be disclosed to others unless otherwise lawfully permitted to do so.
15. It is mandatory to apply, be accepted, and be able to attend to the Florida Southern College Band Camp to receive the scholarship.
